Necro-ing this from the news desk, because people keep finding this thread via search and "TES 6 is near!" deserves a gentle 2026 reality check.

The good news since 2024: it's real and it's moving. Todd Howard confirmed in February that pre-production is done and the game is playable internally, "about to pass a big milestone", running on Creation Engine 3, which makes the OP's CE2 assumption officially out of date. By March he was saying "the majority of this building is working on The Elder Scrolls 6", plus external partners.

The less good news: "near" it is not. Still no date, no trailer beyond the 2018 tease, and it skipped the June 2026 Xbox Showcase entirely. The most credible insider window, Jez Corden's, is 2028 or 2029 — unconfirmed, but it fits Howard's own "long way off". And Hammerfell remains unconfirmed; the only sources naming it are leaks nobody serious vouches for.

I say this with love, as someone who's been refreshing Bethesda's socials since 2018: rejaj's "I honestly cannot wait" is about to turn two, and it'll likely see a few more birthdays yet.
