Updated 14 October 2026. Elder Scrolls Forum is an independent fan site run from Melbourne, Australia. This page explains what we collect, why, and who else handles it. Questions or requests: admin@elderscrollsforum.org.
Reading the site
You can read everything without an account. We count page views per page per day with our own script; it stores the page path, a daily count and the domain of the referring website, and it sets no cookie and stores no IP address. Our host and our content-delivery provider, Cloudflare, process standard connection data (such as IP address and browser details) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and Cloudflare provides us with aggregate traffic statistics.
Accounts and posts
- Creating an account stores your username, email address, a hashed password, your join date and the IP address used to register. If you sign in with Discord, we receive your Discord username and the email address Discord shares with us.
- Posts, replies and your profile are public. Your email address is never shown publicly.
- New posts are checked for spam by Akismet, a service run by Automattic, which receives the post content and related request details for that check.
- We send account emails (confirmation, password reset, notifications you switch on) through our host's mail server.
The email briefing
If you sign up for the briefing, we store your email address, where on the site you signed up, a confirmation token, and when you signed up and confirmed. We only send it after you confirm, every email identifies the site, and every email has a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are honoured within five working days.
Retention and your choices
- Account data is kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal details; posts that others have replied to may be kept with your name removed so threads still make sense.
- Page-view counts contain no personal information and are kept for trend reporting.
- You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at admin@elderscrollsforum.org.
Links to other sites
Links to stores and other sites are governed by those sites' own policies. How the site is funded, and how any commercial links are labelled, is explained on How this site is funded.
